Equinox strikes again

08 Sep 2021

After hearing that the remains of Hurricane Ida would be making its way to my area I decided that I would be making my way down to the shore to check if Ida may have deposited some goodies for me to find. After checking out a few seaweed covered areas I decided to check along the bottom of a cliff. There was a good storm surge still coming in and not much wet sand to check so I figured maybe something might have come out of the bank due to erosion or maybe something could have been trapped behind the rocks. Second target was a clean, crisp signal, not very deep. I took my first scoop and checked the hole, nothing, it was in my shovel. Not really knowing what to expect I sifted the sand and there it was. A 1720 French silver coin. Beautiful condition! I don’t know if Ida brought it ashore or it came out of the embankment, doesn’t matter, the equinox did the trick.
